This project was for my packaging design course. This was an introduction course that allowed students to explore with printing, colours, vinyl and using the laser cutter. Yours Truly, is a 3in1 Valentines Day gift box catered to the younger demographic such as high schoolers who find gift giving a hassle. The goal is to create a compact gift box that can be easily grabbed off the shelf and easily given away.
Overall, this project was very educational and it opened my eyes to different possibilities. I was able to apply everything I learned in this class into my package design. Dielines are very important and to practice that, the class did a lot of basic origami to get us use to using dielines and folding. I used swatch colours and was able to learn a new tool, the laser cutter. Such a useful tool that I will be definitely using in the future.
Though, there are still some improvements I can do to this box, I will be able to carry on what I have learned in this class into my design career and expand on it even more.
Past Iterations
Here are some past iterations and process work. From the beginning, I knew I needed thicker paper but not too thick to the point it is difficult to fold. I needed to make sure it was light yet held its structure. In the end I used 80 lb paper. I did not like my initial design for my candy wrappers because the design was too busy and I did not like how the design looked at the back where the seam is.
